Shepard Collins of Haverhill has been driving part-time for Lyft for four years, and with a full-time job and two kids, he said he doesn’t want to give up the flexibility independent contract work offers.

“If I wake up at 4 a.m. and I can’t get back to sleep, I can throw on Lyft and go do some Lyfts. It’s great,” Collins said
