Ride-share drivers rally in Worcester to support contractor work, benefits

More than 20 drivers gathered at Worcester City Hall on Tuesday to support a proposed ballot question that would officially classify app-based drivers as independent contractors while also giving them new benefits such as paid time off and healthcare stipends.

Many drivers at the rally, such as Lisa McRobbie, said working as an independent contractor has been beneficial for her wellness and becoming a full-time employee would put her at a disadvantage.
