During my two years driving for Uber and Lyft I’ve loved being able to drive when and where I want. The flexibility is exactly what drew me to this type of work. However, I know gig companies are far from perfect. Workers like me rely on the flexibility of these apps, but we deserve more protections, and there has never been a better moment to do both: protect flexibility and expand benefits. Last November, California voters took an important step to do just that. Under a new ballot measure, California’s drivers will finally get the protections and benefits they deserve while also ensuring their ability to work whenever, wherever and for whoever they want. We need to take those same steps here in Massachusetts.
